Rev. Msgr. John D. Day '34
- Established in 1991, the William J. Donlon Special
Achievement Award is given to those individuals who, in the
judgment of the Varsity Club Hall of Fame Selection
Committee, have demonstrated uncommon dedication and
performed supererogatory service to Boston College
athletics, both on and off the fields of play. The award is
named in honor of Reverend William J. Donlon '31, in
recognition of more than sixty years participation, service,
and devotion.
- Theologian, humanitarian, linguist, and historian of Boston
College athletics.
- One of Boston College's most loyal and dedicated alumni and
sports fans, he has been a treasured resource to the
University through seven decades of service.
- In 1990, the Boston College student body selected him "Bald
Eagle of the Year" as the "favorite son" among all alumni.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1991.
