Harold Connolly '53
- American and World Champion in the Hammer Throw event, he
climaxed his spectacular career by winning the Gold Medal
for the United States in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne,
setting a world record of 207 feet, 3 inches.
- He also competed for the United States in the 1960 Olympics
in Rome.
- As a collegian, he was All-New England, All-East, and All-
America in both the hammer throw and shot put.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1970.
