John Austin '66
- Perhaps the greatest basketball player ever to don maroon
and gold, Austin still holds BC records for career scoring
average (27.1 points per game over three varsity years),
season scoring average (29.2 points per game in 1963-64) and
points in a game (49 against Georgetown).
- Austin scored 43 points against Utah State as a junior, and
led the Eagles to the NIT in each of his final two years.
- Coach Bob Cousy's first recruiting prize, Austin was named
All-America as a senior.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1972.
