In a holiday present drive coordinated by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Boston College athletes were able to raise more than $1,500 in toys, clothing, books, sporting goods and CD's for less fortunate area children.

Each team adopted a child for the holiday season and was responsible for raising appropriate funds to buy holiday presents. Seventeen children from the Department of Social Services and the Italian Home will receive gifts from the student-athletes of Boston College.

The teams that participated in the gift drive were: fencing, sailing, field hockey, swimming, volleyball, lacrosse, football, women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey. The women's basketball team sponsored two children.

The recipients of the gifts range in age from one-year old to 12-years old. The SAAC has been extremely active during the fall semester and its service to the community will continue tomorrow at the Franciscan Hospital as the men's basketball team will visit patients in the morning.
