Champions In Their Community

Aug. 19, 2014 Being a student-athlete at Boston College means more than just performing well on the field and in the classroom. The Eagles have a long history of volunteering their time to help those in need. Today, we thank you for making these socially-conscious and often life-changing efforts possible. Your annual support helps the Athletics Department provide a number of volunteer initiatives, like the Devlin S-AFE Program. Opportunities like these give our Eagles the chance to grow as men and women in service and fulfill the well-rounded student-athlete experience that is unique to BC.

What students are saying: "The service trip to New Orleans I was able to take part in because of the Devlin S-AFE Program was amazing. There's a huge difference between talking about when the levees broke and seeing right where the cracks were. Eight years later, the damage is still obvious, but hope lies in the spirit of those strong people. It was a great privilege to lend a helping hand, and it was certainly something special to do it with so many other BC student-athletes." -Collin Fedor '15, cross country

What donors are saying: "The inspiration behind funding the Devlin S-AFE Program was to help BC student-athletes become role models in their community and, in turn, develop themselves. It's much easier to make the connection between student-athletes and their community if they are out there volunteering. I'm proud to support such a special cause and would like to thank all the other donors who do the same." -Michael Devlin WCAS'88

Without your continual support, opportunities like these would not be possible. Thank you, BC Athletics donors, for giving our student-athletes the chance to be champions in their community.
