BC Athletics Announces Enhancements To Gold Pass

May 16, 2014

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Boston College Athletics is introducing an improved version of the Gold Pass, its student ticketing system, for 2014-15.

After solicitation of feedback from focus groups and a fan survey during its first season of implementation in 2013-14, BC Athletics has partnered with SuperFanU, a company that will produce a smartphone app that will serve as a comprehensive hub for the BC Gold Pass, in the interests of enhancing the student fan experience in 2014-15.

The BC Gold Pass app, which utilizes geo-tracking technology, will enable students to check in when they arrive at games and track length of stay. There will be bonus points awarded to students who arrive early and to students who stay the whole game. Push notifications through the app will allow for seamless communication of reminders and awards.

A Gold Pass costs $199 and is currently on sale through the BC Athletics website. Click here to purchase.

Students who purchase before August 1 will be rewarded 10 bonus points. Students who purchase before July 1 are entered to win a trip for two to a road game with the team.

BC Gold Pass App Facts:

• Available for download in early August
• When the student checks in, it will award points for attendance and length of stay
• Five bonus points awarded for arriving 30 minutes early; five bonus points given to students who stay the whole game
• Points will be used toward entrance allocation for high demand games as well as for prizes
• Push notifications through the app will be used to directly and easily contact students about game reminders and awards
• The awards module will inform the students when they have reached enough points to unlock prizes
• Students without smartphones can check in using iPads provide by BC Athletics at the gate
• SuperFanU has produced a smartphone app used by Clemson, Colorado State and Michigan

Study abroad students will be able to purchase a half pass for just the semester they are on campus. For the returning abroad students in the spring, they will have their own leaderboard so they are only competing against other abroad students for point cutoffs into high demand games.

Depending on how many points are accumulated in the 2014-15 year, a certain amount of those will automatically roll-over for the 2015-16 school year. This will reward loyal fans from one year into the next and also give the returning students seniority over incoming freshmen.
