Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Director of Athletics Brad Bates hosted an Academic Recognition Dinner on Monday to honor over 65 student-athletes who earned a GPA of 3.70 or higher. The event took place in the McElroy Commons Faculty Dining Room for the student-athletes that distinguished themselves by earning First Honors.
Bates and President William P. Leahy, S.J., each addressed the group of student-athletes in the invitation-only event.
“Earning First Honors is an exceptional accomplishment, particularly given the rigor of the Boston College curriculum and the prestige of the degree,” said Bates. “BC is very proud of their leadership, academic engagement, and modeling the very essence of a Jesuit education. Combining their rigors of athletics and academics are a wonderful testament to their drive and abilities.”
Monday marked the first time the event recognizing First Honors student-athletes has been held.
